Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge 2017

FINALLLLLLLLLLY!!!! Orlando Bloom is back Keira Knightley is back (kind of). Okay so they aren’t in the whole film but still the ending really really made me happy (I cried happy tears). I’ve been a major Pirates fam from the beginning and up until about the 4th film I realised it wasn’t the same. HOWEVER for me this film brought it back and I assume from the ending we will be getting another one.

mv5bmjmymzeyntgymf5bml5banbnxkftztgwmdmwnjmzmji-_v1_sy1000_cr0014991000_al_There is actually a lot going on in this film we’ve got young Henry Turner played by Brendon Thwaites, trying to rescue his dad from his Davy Jones lifestyle. We’ve also got Kaya Scodelario as Carina Smyth who’s trying to find her dad but everyone thinks she’s a witch because she can read… Misogyny is great and during those times rife so I’m not sure why people have complained about it… Pirates isn’t set in 2017, it’s just making fun of how idiotic men were (still are).

mv5bmtu3nze2odqynv5bml5banbnxkftztgwnjmwnjmzmji-_v1_sx1777_cr001777744_al_Johnny Depp as Captain Jack is perfect however in this film I do feel like he was maybe tired from the role but they played off of this by making Captain Jack have a rough time. He isn’t up to his usual sly schemes and people of the pirate world have realised that he has lost is magic spark! Captain Salazar played by Javier Bardem and his crew are under a curse which really resembles both the skeleton curse from the first film as well as the Davy Jones curse in the second and third film. I’m not sure what else they could have done to change it up but it was still very eerie and effective. We didn’t really see much of Salazar which was a shame because he was a really convincing villain however with everything else going on it was too much. I feel like they almost want to convince the audience that they still relevant story lines so they threw them altogether just to gain interest in development for the next few films. As a fan I’m down for it! So many people complained about the fact it’s a film based on a 50 year old ride… so what. I like the ride and to be able to make a film from that experience you get on the ride is exciting!
